Michigan State lands commitment from priority 2026 PG Carlos Medlock Jr.
Carlos Medlock Jr. has committed to Michigan State as the first member of the Spartans’ 2026 class.
Michigan State basketball has gotten off to a great start in its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Medlock Jr, a rising point guard out of Link Academy in Missouri and a priority target. Originally from Wayne Memorial High School in Michigan, the 6-foot-1 Medlock has quickly emerged as one of the most intriguing floor generals in the class. Sources have told Spartans Illustrated that Medlock was one of the very top targets for Tom Izzo and staff.
A dynamic and explosive scorer, Medlock averaged 27.3 points, 5 assists, and shot 45% from three-point range this summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit with Phenom United. His strong play elevated him on recruiting boards nationally and helped him draw offers from Michigan, Tennessee, Creighton, Iowa, and Washington. Despite the competition, Medlock chose to commit to Tom Izzo and the Spartans after receiving MSU’s offer in mid-June.
According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Medlock is currently rated the No. 173 overall prospect in the class of 2026, the No. 28 point guard, and the No. 7 player in the state of Missouri. He is set to return to East Lansing for his official visit the weekend of Sept. 5 for Grind Week at MSU.
Medlock brings high-level pace, vision, and toughness to the point guard position. At Wayne Memorial, he averaged 24.9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while leading his team to a state championship appearance. He’s known for his shot creation, fearless play in the lane, and leadership on both ends of the court.
His father, Carlos Medlock Sr., starred at Eastern Michigan and earned All-MAC honors in 2010. Now, the younger Medlock looks to make his own mark in the Big Ten. With this commitment, Michigan State adds a high-upside lead guard to launch its 2026 class with strong momentum.
