In what is certainly one of the biggest recruiting heists of all time, Vanderbilt has flipped Jared Curtis, the number 1 high school QB in the class of 2026. Clark Lea and company convinced the signalcaller to flip from perennial SEC powerhouse Georgia in favor of the Commodores. Curtis will be Vanderbilt’s first ever 5 star signee come Wednesday.
“Being in Nashville and seeing what Vandy has been doing this season has been amazing,” Curtis said in a statement posted to his Instagram on Tuesday evening. “I have felt more and more like I wanna be a part of that, to be close to home, to play in front of my family and friends, and to be what I love to be, an underdog.”
The Nashville Christian School product will arrive on Campus in January with sky-high expectations as the program’s first ever 5 star. The opportunity to start as a freshman was a major factor in Curtis’ recruitment, and he will compete with returning senior quarterback Blaze Berlowitz for the starting job throughout spring training and fall camp. Berlowitz has spent the last 3 seasons with offensive coordinator Tim Beck as Diego Pavia’s backup at NMSU and Vanderbilt.
It’s a new day on West End. One where Vanderbilt can compete with the best programs for the nation’s elite talents. Curtis’ commitment legitimizes everything that Clark Lea, Barton Simmons, Tim Beck, and Jerry Kill have been building, and opens the door for many more elite players to play in FirstBank Stadium.
