SEC Week 13 Round Up: Oklahoma Smothers Missouri, Tennessee Snaps Streak, Longhorns Win Shootout, High Quality Competition

Week 13 of the College Football season was drama-free across the SEC. Every favored team won, with no chaos in the College Football Playoff hunt. With the SEC moving to a nine-game conference schedule this year, 2025 may be the last year where SEC teams can get away with scheduling Little School on the Prairie for a late November curb stomping. Here’s how things shook out over the weekend around the conference.

Oklahoma’s defense shuts down Mizzou

Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman Taylor Wein (44) celebrates a tackle during a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Missouri Tigers at Gaylord Family Ð Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025. Oklahoma won 17-6.

The Sooners are now in the driver’s seat to make the College Football Playoff with a 17-6 win over Missouri.

In front of a raucous home crowd, Oklahoma shook off a slow start and broke the will of a Missouri offense that could not finish drives. The Tigers had the ball in the red zone early and sputtered on the goal line. While Missouri kicker Robert Meyer hit a 39-yard field goal, the sloppy kick barely made it through the uprights and was a sign of things to come for Missouri.

The second quarter won the day for Mizzou. Mizzou had control of the game and dominated time of possession. On fourth and three, Missouri set up for a 35-yard field goal, and the Sooners blocked the kick with 7:42 remaining in the second quarter. The special teams miscue crushed any chance Missouri had of pulling off the upset.

Once again, Oklahoma’s offense did not light up the scoreboard, but it did just enough to win. With 6:45 left in the second quarter, Sooners quarterback John Mateer hit Isaiah Sategna for an 87-yard touchdown pass to put Oklahoma up 10-3. In the next series, Tigers quarterback Beau Pribula fumbled on third down, and Mizzou recovered the ball on the 4-yard line. A bad punt gave Oklahoma a short field. With 2:22 remaining, the Sooners took full advantage and added to their lead on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Mateer to Javonnie Gibson.

Missouri hit a 21-yard field goal right before the half to make it 14-6. Those points were the last of the entire game. Oklahoma hit a 45-yard field goal with 11:47 remaining in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Despite Pribula’s return from injury, Missouri’s offense looked completely out of whack. The Tigers were 3/15 on third down and were held to just 70 rushing yards. Pribula completed 20/36 passes for 231 yards and 2 interceptions. Ahmad Hardy looked human with 17 carries for just 57 yards. The Sooners’ defense sacked Pribula four times and sent him running for his life on multiple third downs.

For Oklahoma, Mateer did find the end zone, but questions remain about Oklahoma’s ability to keep pace with a stronger offensive opponent. Mateer finished the game with 14/30 passing for 173 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions to go along with 60 rushing yards. Isaiah Sategna led the Sooners with 3 receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. Assuming Oklahoma makes the playoffs, it will need to find a way to score more offensive touchdowns to avoid a one-and-done exit.

Oklahoma faces LSU on Saturday for its final game of the season.

Texas A&M played one of five “Little School on the Prairie gets a gigantic check and an ass kicking” games this weekend.

Texas A&M pillaged Samford 48-0. Quarterback Marcel Reed completed 10/15 passes for 120 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. Receivers Ashton Bethel-Roman and KC Concepcion had 2 catches for 61 yards and 2 touchdowns, and 5 catches for 42 yards and a touchdown, respectively. Running back Amari Daniels had 9 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown. A&M’s defense held Samford to just 77 yards.

Texas A&M faces off against hated rival Texas on Friday night, with the Aggies looking to get some revenge on the Longhorns.

Georgia cakewalks to win over Charlotte

In game number two of the sacking of Little School on the Prairie, Georgia strolled to a 35-3 win over Charlotte.

Quarterback Gunner Stockton completed 17/21 passes for 196 yards and an interception. Georgia’s running backs, Nate Frazier and Bo Walker, led the way with 12 carries for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns, and 9 carries for 48 yards and 3 touchdowns. Georgia held a 1-9 Charlotte team to 1/11 on third downs.

Georgia plays rival Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon.

Alabama takes care of business against Eastern Illinois

In the third Little School on the Prairie game, Eastern Illinois’ campus got a nice donation after it was demolished by Alabama 56-0.

For Alabama, quarterback Ty Simpson completed 11/16 passes for 147 yards, 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and just handed off the football for most of the game. The Crimson Tide run game had 8 touchdown runs from 6 different players, including Jam Miller (1), AK Dear (2), Kevin Riley (2), Austin Mack (1), Richard Young (1), and Daniel Hill (1). Alabama’s defense had 3 sacks and held Eastern Illinois to 1/11 on third down.

Alabama travels to the Plains for a night game in Saturday’s Iron Bowl. If Alabama loses, it will likely be out of the College Football Playoff mix.

Auburn crushes Mercer

Auburn Tigers wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. (1) turns up field after a catch as Auburn Tigers take on Mercer Bears at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025. Auburn Tigers defeated the Mercer Bears 62-17.

The fourth Little School on the Prairie game went about as well for Mercer as Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in the dead of winter. Auburn defeated Mercer 62-17 and has some juice heading into Saturday’s Iron Bowl.

Freshman quarterback Deuce Knight made his debut and went 15/20 passing for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns. Knight dominated as a ball carrier as well, with 9 carries for 162 yards and 4 touchdowns.

It remains unclear who will start for Auburn in Saturday’s Iron Bowl. Will the Tigers start Knight or Ashton Daniels, thereby preventing Daniels from taking advantage of the NCAA’s redshirt rule? Regardless of who starts for Auburn, it seems clear that Hugh Freeze was holding back the team’s offensive talent. Auburn has a chance not only to become bowl eligible but also to break the spirit of its most hated rival, Alabama.

Texas wins a shootout against Arkansas

After its crushing defeat in Athens, Texas prevailed over Arkansas, 52-37.

Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning completed 18/30 passes for 389 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 1 rushing touchdown, and a touchdown catch of his own on a 4-yard trick play. Receiver Parker Livingstone led the way for the Longhorns with 2 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. Texas’ defense also had a dynamic touchdown of its own, where star linebacker Colin Simmons forced a fumble and linebacker Liona Lefau returned it for a 52-yard touchdown.

For Arkansas, Saturday was more of the same. The Razorbacks’ defense could not stop anything in front of it despite scoring a lot of points. Quarterback Taylen Green completed 10/20 passes for 118 yards and an interception and ran for 56 yards and a touchdown. On his interception, Green appeared to suffer a lower-body injury. KJ Jackson was efficient in relief and completed 16/29 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown. Running back Mike Washington had 17 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Texas faces hated in-state rival A&M on Friday night to try and keep its small CFP hopes alive, while Arkansas faces Missouri to close out the regular season.

South Carolina smokes Coastal Carolina

In the last Little School on the Prairie Game, South Carolina took out all of its frustrations on Coastal Carolina in a 51-7 shellacking.

Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers completed 16/20 passes for 274 yards and 0 touchdowns and ran for 82 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Receiver Jayden Sellers had 4 catches for 127 yards and a touchdown to lead the way for South Carolina.

South Carolina faces Clemson in its final game of the season.

Tennessee finally wins in the Swamp

Tennessee wide receiver Radarious Jackson (5) does the gator chomp as Tennessee beat Florida in an NCAA college football game on November 22, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida.

The Volunteers broke a 22-year streak on Saturday and beat Florida 31-11 in the Swamp.

Volunteers quarterback Joey Aguilar completed 17/22 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown. Running back DeSean Bishop dominated for Tennessee with 24 carries for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Florida did not score until a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter. Quarterback DJ Lagway finished with 11/17 passing and 116 yards and a touchdown. The Gators were no match for Josh Heupel’s offense and could not get off the field on defense in the first half.

Tennessee will host Vanderbilt this weekend and try to spoil the Commodores’ season in the most anticipated game between the schools in recent memory. Florida will play Florida State to end the season.

LSU wins rock fight against Western Kentucky

On Saturday, LSU squeaked by WKU 13-10. Quarterback Michael Van Buren completed 25/42 passes for 202 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Trey’Dez Green had 6 catches for 45 yards and 1 touchdown.

LSU remains a program that looks directionless since Brian Kelly’s firing. The Tigers have no offensive identity despite having a loaded receiver room and have struggled all year against lesser competition. It remains to be seen whether LSU will bring in Lane Kiffin or make another splashy hire. LSU’s resources make it an attractive job. However, this is no ordinary coaching search, as the Governor of Louisiana is now involved in the hiring of the next head coach.

The Tigers play Oklahoma to close out the 2025 season.
