Sedrick Alexander Named to Doak Walker Award Watch List

Vanderbilt Running Back Sedrick Alexander has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list. The Doak Walker Award is given annually to the most outstanding running back in college football. The award was established in 1990 and is named after former SMU running back Doak Walker. Recent winners include:
Ashton Jeanty, Boise State (2024)
Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State (2023)
Bijan robinson, Texas (2022)
Kenneth Walker III, Michigan St (2021)
Najee Harris, Alabama (2020)
Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin (2018 & 2019)
Sedrick Alexander was Vanderbilt’s “bell cow” back during the 2024 season. Even dealing with injuries during the latter half of the year, Alexander was able to put up 164 carries, 586 yards, and 6 touchdowns as well as 23 catches, 238 yards, and another touchdown. With the addition of the speedy MK Young grabbing the attention of defenses in Vanderbilt’s multi-back sets, a healthy Sedrick Alexander has potential to elevate those numbers during the 2025 season.
