Vanderbilt Safety Marlen Sewell Named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

Vanderbilt Safety Marlen Sewell was named to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List on Thursday, July 31st. The Wuerffel Trophy is widely regarded as the premier award for community service in college football. It celebrates student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and create positive change. The Award is named after Florida’s 1996 Heisman winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel, who turned his football success into a lifelong mission of service.
Sewell, a captain last season and three-time SEC Honor Roll member is entering his fifth season on West End, something you sadly see less and less of each season. A leader on and off the field, Marlen is always involved with team lead community service, whether going to Atlanta for the MLK Day of Service trip, or fundraising for the Dancing Dores Dance Marathon at Monroe Carroll Children’s Hospital.
