Rivals300 defensive lineman Anthony Lonon Jr. commits to Georgia

Georgia has landed its 31st commitment of the 2026 class from right in the Bulldogs’ backyard. Athens native and Georgia legacy defensive end prospect Anthony Lonon, Jr. has announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.
He chose Georgia over Georgia Tech.
Despite just earning an offer from the Bulldogs in early June, Lonon’s connection with the Bulldogs goes beyond being an Athens native. It extends back to even before he was born, as his dad, Anthony Lonon Sr., played on the same Georgia team as Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo.
“My dad played football at UGA. So, of course, right there, you know, I grew up as a Dawg fan, 100 percent,” Lonon said. “And then when I was growing up, favorite players I’ve watched, I would definitely say, we can go Todd Gurley on the offense, and then we can say Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Mykel (Williams), all those. I actually wear 88 because of Jalen Carter.”
Now he will have a chance to wear the same uniform as those players he grew up watching.
While Georgia’s offer didn’t come until June, the Bulldogs weren’t the only ones to arrive on the scene late for the Clarke Central product.
“My first Power Four offer came in February,” Lonon said. “So if you could imagine, since then, I’ve been picking up on my recruitment, you know, I’m really just now starting to get into that world.”
Lonon joins Seven Cloud, Carter Luckie, Corey Howard, PJ Dean, Preston Carey, and Valdin Sone as defensive linemen in Georgia’s 2026 class.
