Isaiah Reeves, a prospect in the Class of 2028, is drawing some serious interest from Georgia.

The safety from Lawrenceville, Georgia, has been to Athens numerous times this season already to see the Bulldogs play. Reeves visited Sanford Stadium earlier this month for the Kentucky game and returned for Ole Miss.

“Georgia is a place I could see myself at,” Reeves told UGASports. “The fanbase, the culture, and the coaching staff all stand out. It’s definitely the kind of environment that I’d want to be a part of.”

Forging relationships

Reeves is working on building his relationship with the staff, spefically Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams. He’s also starting to develop a bond with co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Travaris Robinson and assistant Andrew Thacker.

Reeves thinks very highly of the three Bulldog coaches.

“Coach Dee (Williams) and I are building a great relationship. We met in the summer during a 7-on-7 camp,” the 2028 prospect said. “I’ve came to two games here this year and we shared great conversations. I’ve also talked to Coach Thacker and Coach T-Rob (Robinson). Things are great with them as well.”

During his two visits this season, Reeves has seen how Georgia’s defense operates during games. He likes how the coaches rotate players in and out of the secondary and how the defensive backs are coached.

The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back also appreciates how Kirby Smart coaches.

“Having Kirby as a coach would be great. He’s a former DB himself, so he really understands that side of the game,’ Reeves said. “He brings a winning culture and a lot of experience. I’ve heard him say he wants players with ‘fire, passion, and energy,’ and that’s something I try to apply to my game right now.”

A stark comparison

Reeves projects to play safety at the next level and sees a little bit of KJ Bolden in him.

“I like what (Georgia did with (Malaki) Starks last year, but the main thing for me is what they are doing with KJ Bolden,” Reeves said. “We come from the same area, and have the same skillset so thats the main thing for me.”

Reeves loves how Bolden plays with physicality and aggression. The two are almost the same size Bolden was when he was in high school. Reeves feels like he embodies what Bolden represents on the field.

Reeves mentioned that Williams likes how he plays.

“He likes how I play the ball, my size, and just how I play the game,” Reeves added.

What’s next?

Reeves currently holds offers from Coastal Carolina and Eastern Kentucky, with interest from other schools.

Reeves hopes an offer from Georgia comes through, but knows he has to keep his head down and work hard.

“It would mean a lot,” Reeves said if the Bulldogs ever offered. “The ability to play at a powerhouse in my home state. Ive been a UGA fan ever since I was little, so an opportunity like that would mean everything.”
