ATLANTAGeorgia signee Kaiden Prothro recently ended his high school football career on a positive note.

The five-star prospect helped Bowdon High School win its fourth straight Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class A Division II state championship by defeating Lincoln County 35-31 on Dec. 15 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Prothro caught four passes for 71 yards and a touchdown despite double coverage. He added six tackles on defense.

“I’m just very happy and very emotional that I just got the opportunity,” Prothro told UGASports after the game.

It was a back-and-forth contest, with Bowdon leading 21-17 at the half, thanks to Prothro’s touchdown catch. The 6-foot-6, 216-pound prospect caught a contested pass over a pair of defenders.

The game was tight until the end, as Bowdon survived a nailbiter.

Lincoln County made it down to the Red Devil’s 2-yard line before time ran out on its comeback attempt.

Prothro admitted he wasn’t worried.

“I stayed true to myself, trusting my teammates,” the five-star prospect said. “You can’t have doubt if you want to win the game and we’re just on fire right now. These guys are a physical team. We’ve got a physical team.”

Prothro ended his high school campaign on top. He totaled over 3,000 receiving yards for his career with a GHSA individual record of 66 receiving touchdowns.

What’s next?

Prothro will enroll early at Georgia, but is unsure if he will practice with the Bulldogs for the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Regardless, he is excited to get some rest before moving to Athens.

“I’m planning on enrolling early and hopefully I am going for some bowl practices if I can make it,” Prothro said. “I have no idea yet. It’s kind of a weird (process). They’ve got to call you up or whatever (if a roster spot is open).

Prothro is excited to join a tight end room at Georgia with talented players like Lawson Luckie, Jaden Reddell, Elyiss Williams, and Ethan Barbour, along with fellow signees Lincoln Keyes and Brayden Fogle.

“I just want to be on the offensive side of the ball making plays,” Prothro said.
