Georgia offensive lineman Jahzare Jackson was arrested last week in Athens.

The sophomore was charged with four counts, including a felony charge of possession of marijuana more than one ounce.

Jackson was also charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession and use of drug related objects, and “physically hold or support, with any part of his or her body, a wireless device.”

The felony charge carried a bond amount of $5,000. The other charges were $10 apiece.

Jackson was booked at 11:50 p.m. on July 16. He was released on bond at 4:17 a.m.

Jackson appeared in all 14 games for Georgia in 2024, playing on special teams and as a reserve offensive lineman. The former basketball star, listed at 6-foot-10 and 348 pounds by Georgia, is battling for playing time at tackle for the Bulldogs.

“I mean, for sure. When you think about just the nature of switching sports like that, let alone coming to a place like here after not playing football for a long time, I know it’d be a hard transition for most people,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said this spring. “But you know, he took it on the chin. You know, he came in with his head down, eager and ready to learn and get as good as he could possibly be. So he’s another guy who I’m really just eager to see what he can do in the spring and what he looks like and how it’s coming together.”
