Georgia has a new opponent on the schedule for 2026.

According to a Monday report from The Tennessean, Georgia will host Tennessee State in Athens for next season. The date for the game has not been finalized, although it is expected to be an early-season contest.

Tennessee State is the fourth non-conference opponent scheduled for Georgia in 2026. The Bulldogs are also scheduled to host Western Kentucky and Georgia Tech in addition to a road game at Louisville.

That slate is contingent on the SEC remaining at an eight-game conference schedule. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said last week that the league hopes to have a schedule plan finalized in the coming weeks.

“We will continue to evaluate increasing the number of SEC games from eight to nine,” Sankey said at SEC Media Days. “As I have said repeatedly, understanding how the CFP will evaluate ‘strength of schedule’ and ‘strength of record’ is a critically important part of our football schedule decision making.”

In 2027, Georgia begins a home and home series with Florida State while finishing off the series with Louisville. Other future non-conference opponents include Clemson (2029-30, 2032-33), Ohio State (2030-31), and North Carolina State (2033-34).
