Georgia's Top 'Priority' Tyriq Green commits to Bulldogs

Georgia now has seven defensive backs in its 2026 recruiting class following the commitment of Buford High School safety Tyriq Green.
Green chose the Bulldogs over Miami and Auburn Saturday, completing a recruitment process where Georgia has always been present.
Since earning an offer from the Bulldogs back in March of 2024, following his sophomore season, Green has felt like a priority.
“It feels good, being the in-state school, having a chance to win a national championship with them, and then me being one of their top priorities,” Green said.
Much of that is a credit to safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. Head coach Kirby Smart has also personally put effort into the recruitment of the second Buford player Georgia has landed since KJ Bolden.
“We were just talking and kicking back off the last time we spoke when I was up there,” Green said of Smart following his official visit. “We just are continuing building our relationship, and he just made sure I knew I was one of the guys he wanted.”
The Georgia staff has compared Green to Bolden, who the Bulldogs signed out of Buford in the 2024 class.
“The coaches tell me I am a great fit,” Green said. “They tell me I can come down there and start early kind of like KJ Bolden was and just be able to go out there and play.”
At 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, Green ranks as the No. 7 safety, No. 23 player from Georgia, and No. 166 prospect nationally in the class of 2026.
Green joins a defensive back class that also includes Justice Fitzpatrick, Caden Harris, Chace Calicut, Jordan Smith, Zech Fort, and Kealan Jones.
“They think very highly of Georgia. Just it being closer to home and it not being a crazy drive to get there,” Green said of his parents’ thoughts on Georgia. “They would be able to come to every home game so they are very high on Georgia. They have a good relationship with the staff too.”
