Indianapolis – Class of 2027 quarterback Colton Nussmeier has visited and camped at numerous SEC schools the past few months.

“This summer I went to LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama for camps and just to be around their campus,” Nussmeier said. “I like them a lot. I like all of them. I think they’ve made a good impression on me.”

Through family ties, Georgia is a school the No. 4 nationally rated quarterback is familiar with.

“I like Georgia, it’s my second time there. I like Coach [Mike] Bobo, I like Coach [Brandon] Streeter. I think they do a very good job,” Nussmeier said. “I think they would develop me pretty well. I like the program. I like Coach [Kirby] Smart. I have known him a good amount of time because he worked with my dad at Bama. He is a good guy, he is recruiting me. It is good to catch up with him, and talk, and all that.”

Championship pedigree and play style has the Bulldogs in the mix.

“I know they win national championships, they win games. I think the offense is a good offense. I like the way they run it,” Nussmeier said. “We had a slide show, and they were showing all the statistics and all of that. I like throwing the ball. It is fun, but I mean, you have to do what you got to do to win. So if we are throwing the ball and winning, we might as well keep doing it.”

The ties to LSU with his brother Garrett there is working in the Tigers’ favor.

“I have been there a lot just because of him. I have developed a relationship with the coaches and the players and I know the program very well and all that,” Nussmeier said. “But it’s pretty cool, getting to go watch my brother play. He is going to have a big year this year, so it should be fun.”

With his dad coaching all over the country, staying close to home is not all that important.

“I don’t really know if I have a home. I have  lived in seven states, but I think Texas, I call my home because I have been there the longest,” Nussmeier said. “But I mean, I do not think that how far I go is going to have anything to do with it.”

Moving forward, the No. 24 nationally rated prospect is focusing on the aforementioned four schools.

“I think I will go on a couple gameday visits. I do not really know yet. I will have to figure out what days, and all of that, and what games,” Nussmeier said. “But I think I will probably end up going to a game at each of those four.”

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound quarterback explained what he was looking for on the upcoming visits.

“I want to know how well they will develop me, and I think that’s a big part,” Nussmeier said. “I think my relationship with the coaches is also a big part, and the atmosphere, the offensive scheme, and how they run their program.”
