Lane Kiffin

Head Coach Lane Kiffin Opening Statement…

“A lot of credit to Georgia. They had a really good game plan offensively. In the fourth quarter, they made a lot of plays, both sides of the ball. I told my guys that this is exactly what you want. Going into the fourth quarter, you are up two scores at Georgia, the chance to beat Georgia two years in a row. Unfortunately, we did not do things, did not function on offense after five drives and five touchdowns. There is a lot of guys making a lot of plays during those drives offensively. Usually you would think that you would be getting blown out if they score every time they have the ball and have 34 first downs. When you are in a game like that, those things happen and you have to keep scoring. We did not do that int he fourth quarter.”

On Ole Miss defense performance…

“Gunner did a great job of keeping plays alive. He made a lot of plays with his legs. There was not really one thing, they did everything. We did limit explosive plays, but it was a slow death of 34 first downs.” On Georgia’s ability to comeback late in games… “Kirby does a great job. He got it from Coach Saban, to install the belief that we are going to find a way. When you played Alabama before, or now Georgia, with these two coaches I feel like you have to win the game. They are not going to let you get the end at the end of the fourth quarter. That was why we were aggressive on the fourth down, where we reversed. I have this note in my pocket, when you got up, you have a chance, you got to go for it. Do not just kick field goals, do not play conservatively. We tried to stay aggressive.”

Trinidad Chambliss

On how he is feeling and what the mood was like in the locker room…

“It’s very disappointing that we lost. You want to beat a team like Georgia. We were playing well in the first half and just couldn’t get it done in the fourth quarter.”

On what happened on a miss throw on the sixth drive of the game…

“It was a sail route to our tight end. Just short-armed it. Just didn’t get enough of my legs into it, so just a miss by me, and I just got to do better.”

On whether he felt a small mistake, like the miss throw, gave Georgia momentum…

“Yeah. If you give a team some momentum, some confidence from a bad play or a mistake, it can get the crowd involved and get their team riled up. So, that can definitely give them some momentum.”
