Opening statement…

“It was a really good game until the fourth quarter it was 14-10. They get the ball, they convert two first downs, they score. They onside kick, they score again. They pop a kick-off and then we are inside the ten, shank a punt, they score again. It was then 21 to nothing in the fourth quarter. Great job to Georgia, they did a really nice job. I wish we took advantage of a few things later in the game offensively, specifically in the first half. At that point, it was unfortunate because we thought we could have a more balance attack and we did not. Disappointing because it was a pretty good game for three quarters, but it was not a good game in the fourth quarter. At least not for us. The challenge for us now is we got two week season in front of us. We got to get off the mat, we have to go and compete. We got to go and find a way to win two ball games. We will see what happens.”

On the fourth quarter…

“The first fourth down, they snuck the tailback out of the backfield and out the backdoor. We did not defend the play very well. It was unfortunate because we practiced that play. The second fourth down, we jumped offsides. That is just mental intensity, we just lost focus and jumped offside. Then they scored on the onside kick. We did not break on the ball and that is on us as coaches. We got to do a better job at getting our players understanding situational football. We go attack the ball, we have an opportunity for a great field position situation. I would not say that they lost composure, I think we lost some focus, we lost some intensity in the fourth quarter.”

On wanting the offense to produce with defensive stops…

“We had a pretty good first drive. We had another pretty good drive, but then the interception in the red zone. We dropped some passes, we dropped some throws, we had some holding penalties. WE had some self inflected wombs in there. We had a really good plan, but we were not able to stack it all together to make it all work. You have to play complimentary football for games like this. Our ability to do that in the first half was pretty glaring. In the third quarter, when we cut it to a 14-10 game, it was like ‘Okay, let’s go play.’ We just could not put it all together. We could not tie offense, defense, special teams all together tonight.”
