Bandits hold off Blaze in extra innings, Talons keep rolling in win over Volts

Bandits 5, Blaze 4
The Bandits got back in the win column on Wednesday, following a 5-4 extra-inning win over the Blaze.
The Blaze opened the scoring in the second, off of Bandits starter Lexi Kilfoyl. Ali Newland, a recent addition to the team, homered to put the Blaze up 1-0.
The Bandits responded in the third though, when Bella Dayton and Morgan Zerkle singled, making way for Skylar Wallace’s RBI groundout.
In the fourth, Newland ripped an RBI double to take the lead, but the Bandits punched right back in the home half. Dayton’s two-run double put the Bandits up 3-2 after four innings.
Erin Coffel’s fifth-inning home run added insurance for the Bandits, bringing a 4-2 lead into the seventh inning.
In the final inning of regulation, McKenzie Clark led off with a single and Kalei Harding’s two-run homer tied the game at 4-4.
Facing Odicci Alexander in the eighth, the Bandits reliever struck out a pair of batters. Then, Delanie Wisz called game, knocking a single to left field and scoring Bubba Nickles-Camarena to win the game.

Talons 2, Volts 0
The Talons blanked the Volts for a second straight day. This time, the duel work of Megan Faraimo and Raelin Chaffin shut down the Volts’ bats.
Chaffin earned the start, holding the Volts to one hit in three innings. Off Volts starter Mariah Mazon, the Talons put the first run on the board in the opening frame. Consecutive walks made way for Tori Vidales to single in the game’s first run.
After a scoreless second inning, Vidales then doubled the lead in the third. Her second RBI single of the game was the lone production from either side on Wednesday.
Faraimo took over in the fourth, allowed only five baserunners and struck out three to end the game and earn the win.
The Talons’ win also keeps them atop the AUSL standings, holding full control of their own destiny.
