Volts 6, Talons 4

The Volts ended their season with an emphatic 6-4 win over the Talons.

Off starter Raelin Chaffin, the Volts opened the scoring with an RBI single from Dejah Mulipola. Mia Scott then doubled, scoring two more runs, and Ciara Briggs lifted a sacrifice fly to extend the Volts’ lead to 4-0.

Meanwhile, Sam Landry earned a consecutive start, tossing the first three innings of the game. In the third, the Talons stormed back with three runs of their own. Sydney Romero ripped an RBI double, and Caroline Jacobsen mashed a two-run homer.

In the fourth, Danieca Coffey scored a run with an RBI groundout. Then, Mia Scott added an insurance run with an RBI groundout in the fifth. Jacobsen’s RBI double in the fifth cut the Volts’ lead to 6-4 but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Although the Talons will take on the Bandits in the AUSL championship, the Volts end their season on a high note, finishing third in the league.

Bandits 5, Blaze 1

The Bandits blew by the Blaze 5-1 to end the regular season. Emiley Kennedy, Lexi Kilfoyl and Taylor McQuillan combined to limit the Blaze offense to just one run on Wednesday.

To open the game, Bubba Nickles-Camarena drew a bases-loaded walk to score the game’s first run. The Bandits and Blaze exchanged scoreless innings each of the next three frames.

Then, in the fifth, Erin Coffel and Delanie Wisz crushed back-to-back RBI doubles to extend the Bandits’ lead to 3-0. Sydney McKinney added two more runs on a sixth-inning home run.

Trailing 5-0, the Blaze added a run in the final inning of the regular season. Baylee Klingler knocked an RBI single to cut the deficit to four.

The Bandits will play in the AUSL championship series against the Talons starting on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. Game One will air on ESPN at 3 p.m. ET.
