It was Delanie Wisz‘s night. The UCLA alum capped off a three-hit night with a walk-off single to lead the now first-place Bandits to a 6-5 win over the Volts.

The ball was flying out of McMurry Park in Sulphur, La., early. Erin Coffel just missed a three-run home run as the ball bounced off the top of the wall. Volts starter Sam Landry made the most of it, limiting the Bandits to one run from Coffel’s RBI double.

Wisz led off the second, leaving no doubt with a solo home run to double her team’s lead. After a Sydney McKinney double, Skylar Wallace brought her in on a two-out single.

The first seven Volts hitter struggled against Bandits starter Lexi Kilfoyl. That all changed after McKenzie Clark came to the plate. The electric outfielder hit a solo home run to put the Volts on the board. Tiare Jennings found her own long ball after Kilfoyl allowed back-to-back singles for a three-run blast to give her team the lead.

That only lasted so long as Jordan Roberts smacked a game-tying home run in the fourth. The offense stalled out on each side as both Volts’ Rachel Garcia and Bandits’ Odicci Alexander calmed things down and escaped jams until the seventh.

It appeared that Alexander was out in the seventh inning unscathed after striking out Jennings. The Bandits were confused if the dropped third strike was ruled a foul tip, it wasn’t and a throw got away from Devyn Netz at first base, which allowed the go-ahead run to score from first.

That put the pressure on the Bandits. Wisz kept her team alive following two quick hits with a single. She moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a hard chopper off the bat of Roberts to tie the game in the seventh.

The Volts tried scoring at the top of the ninth, but a perfect throw from Morgan Zerkle in center field cut the run down at the plate. And allowed the Bandits to win it in the bottom half of the frame.
