Alabama redshirt freshman guard Davin Cosby plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he tells On3, becoming the third Crimson Tide player to transfer after the 2023-24 season.

Cosby played in 22 of Alabama’s 37 games this year in a reserve role, where he averaged 3.6 points per game and 34.4 percent from 3-point range. Cosby’s best game of the season came on the road at Ole Miss on Feb. 28, as he scored a season-high 15 points and made 50 percent (5-of-10) of his attempts from deep. It was one of two games he scored double-digit points and one of five contests in which Cosby made multiple shot attempts from three.

Cosby joined the team during the spring semester last year and was able to practice with the Tide during its NCAA Tournament run as the No. 1 overall seed – he just couldn’t play. After his redshirt season, he was finally able to suit up, but Cosby missed Alabama’s historic Final Four run – the first in the basketball program’s history – because of a broken foot.

A native of Richmond, Va., Cosby was a 4-star recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The 6-foot-5 guard was considered the 18th-best shooting guard and the No. 116 overall prospect in his class after his career at Word of God Christian Academy.
