Alabama's Jalen Milroe named to Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2023
Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was named to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2023, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award announced on Tuesday.
Milroe is one of 35 signal-callers on the O’Brien’s initial list and is officially in the running for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. Semifinalists for the O’Brien will be announced on Nov. 14 with the group of finalists being released on Nov. 28. The 2023 winner of the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 8.
Alabama has had two Davey O’Brien Award winners in program history, first with Mac Jones in 2020. He was followed the very next year by Bryce Young.

Jalen Milroe
- Took over the starting quarterback spot to open the 2023 season and has made seven starts since opening day
- Completed 99-of-153 passes for 1,617 yards and 13 touchdowns compared to five interceptions
- Added 77 rushes for 142 yards and five scores on the ground
- Ranks second in the SEC and eighth nationally in passer efficiency rating at 175.0
- Leads the league and ranks third in Division I with a 16.33 yards per completion mark
- Averaging 10.57 yards per pass attempt to rank second in the conference and third nationally
