The Tigers’ personnel enterprise is taking another step forward.

Rex Hogan, who most recently served as assistant general manager with the New York Jets, has been hired to become Auburn’s director of college scouting. He will join a football support staff that was nearly barren in 2018 but now employs more than 40 people.

Hogan brings college and NFL experience to the Plains. He worked at both Utah and Notre Dame early in his career, but transitioned to the NFL as an area scout with the Chicago Bears in 2003. He spent 12 seasons there before moving to the Jets as their senior director of college scouting. Hogan later spent two years as the Indianapolis Colts’ vice president for player personnel before returning to the Jets in 2019 to serve as assistant GM.

The Jets endured a miserable campaign in 2024 that saw both head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas fired during the season. Hogan and the Jets mutually parted ways at season’s end.
