AUBURN — Finally, we know what Auburn’s football schedule looks like for the 2024 season. The SEC did their best to draw out the process over the last few months, but released dates and full schedules of all SEC teams on Wednesday evening during a made-for-TV special on the SEC Network.

It’s a mix of new matchups and old rivalries that highlight Auburn’s conference schedule in the second season under head coach Hugh Freeze.

The Tigers will welcome Oklahoma to Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first time. The two teams have met just twice before – both matchups coming in the Sugar Bowl (1972, 2017). It will be Vanderbilt’s first visit to the Plains since 2016. Arkansas and Texas A&M are both regular visitors to Auburn.

The Tigers haven’t traveled to Kentucky since 2015 and haven’t lost in Lexington since 1966, winning the last nine straight. The two teams have only played only twice in the last 13 seasons, with Auburn winning the last meeting in 2020 to start the Covid-shortened season.

Auburn and Missouri have only played four times ever, with the orange and blue Tigers holding a 3-1 advantage and winning the last three. Auburn won the 2013 SEC title game, won in Columbia 51-14 in 2017, then squeaked by 17-14 at home in 2022.

Of course, trips to Alabama and Georgia are the norm. We’ll see if the SEC ever switches back to Auburn playing one rival on the road and one at home as was done for years and years before the 2013 season, when Auburn hosted Georgia for the second straight year and started this current trend.

Absent from the schedule in 2024 are regulars LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. The conference is doing away with divisions in football for the 2024 season.
