COMMITMENT: Florida A&M transfer DL James Ash commits to Auburn

Florida A&M transfer defensive lineman James Ash has committed to Auburn he announced via his instagram.
Ash, who has one year of eligibility remaining, announced his decision on social media. His decision comes soon after leaving an official visit with the Tigers.
“The visit was nice, everything I could have asked for,” Ash said after the visit. “Everybody was nice, ready to help, answered questions if I had any. It was definitely a good time.
“The culture, the family atmosphere, I love it around here I ain’t going to lie. It’s a very big change from where I just came from and it is kind of reminding me of where I started. It’s definitely a full-circle moment for me and I’m ready to take it on with a full head of steam.”
Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams and defensive coordinator DJ Durkin both were big for the Tigers in landing Ash.
“My guy,” he said of King-Williams. “He sees a lot in me. He sees a lot of athleticism and ways they can use it in their scheme.
“Durk’s scheme is second-to-none from what I’m hearing. He’s had guys that have produced and showed that his scheme is just short of perfect. It’s been a lot and I’m grateful for it.”

The defensive line situation at Auburn also played a role.
“I like the fact that we have two senior guys moving on and chasing dreams,” he said. “Now, it is open for a guy with a little more experience. I know the guys in the room right now have been great rotational guys. The coaches talked highly of everybody in the room. I feel like with the rotation, it’ll be a scary night every Saturday.”
