Former five-star safety Jacoby Mathews is transferring to Auburn, he tells AuburnLive.

Mathews, who was the No. 1-ranked safety in the 2022 class, will be on campus soon and enroll for fall semester.

“Sometime within the next two weeks,” Mathews said. “Everything is a done deal.”

Mathews signed with Texas A&M in ’22 under then-defensive coordinator DJ Durkin. While with the Aggies, Mathews played in 21 games and totaled 66 tackles, including 46 solos, eight pass breakups and an interception.

Mathews transferred from A&M after the 2023 season and spent one year in junior college working on his academics.

Mathews, who took an official visit to Auburn on June 16, has two years of eligibility remaining. He is immediately eligible.
