The Wells File

Position: Interior defensive line

Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 290 pounds

Hometown (HS): Petal, Miss. (Petal)

On3 Industry Ranking: (90.42) No. 278 overall, No. 32 defensive lineman, No. 11 player in Mississippi.

Commitment Date: Dec. 3, 2025

Chose Auburn over: Texas, Ole Miss

Time of enrollment: January

Notable: Wells gave Auburn the vibes that he would commit in the summer. Shortly after leaving his Auburn official visit, he committed to Texas. Since that commitment, Vontrell King-Williams never gave up on him. At one point in the season, Wells was visiting Auburn frequently and referring to the Tigers as “we.” When King-Williams was retained, Wells was all in.

Quotes: “Vontrell King-Williams is a family person,” Wells said. “He always checks up on us, always calls us. He always keeps it 100 with us. He’s a family person, I like that. Family is the only thing I’ve got.”

After visiting for a game.. “It was amazing. The atmosphere is crazy. Fourth quarter (show) was insane. Even though I saw it already, it was still insane, especially with an SEC team like Georgia. That was a good environment.”

Pink’s Analysis

Wells stands out in a crowd… He is a big man. Wells can play well above 300 pounds on the next level.

Wells has limited mobility, but he plays with strong effort despite that. He’s still learning to be consistent in getting off of blocks. His hands aren’t bad, but he still has more development in shedding those blocks. Most importantly, he is not easily moved with his size and raw power. That will take him far in his career.

Corey is far from a finished product for now. He’s learning pad level and leverage while towering over most of his opponents–but the flashes are there. He’s filled out and probably closer to filling out his frame than most, but he’s still growing into his body. Wells has elite length and a great frame that will probably be suited in the 300-pound range on the next level.

Should he continue to develop as a plugger, he has the means to be a strong plugger.
