Hugh Freeze was once again fairly transparent when talking about Auburn's offensive struggles at Texas A&M last Saturday. UMass, Cal and Samford clearly didn't prepare the Tigers for the Aggies in College Station, as Freeze watched his offense barely produce 200 total yards and only three offensive points. "You hate losing games where you didn't feel like you played your best," Freeze said. "I know you'll find this hard to believe, but when you watch the tape, there were good things in the first half. We should have left with at minimum 12 points. The two holding calls that we had first-and-10 inside the 30 and then we're behind the chains. We're not quite good enough to survive that. We were running the ball effectively. The pressure was on us for sure. "We had people open, but it was a mixture of us not standing in there and making the throw, and we had some times where we didn't adequately step up and make the throw. We easily could have had some points in the first half and made that a game. That's frustrating for sure." Freeze was encouraged by his defense's performance. The group held tough as Auburn's offense floundered, ultimately giving up 27 points and 402 total yards after allowing only six points in the first half. "There were a lot of things I liked from the defense," Freeze said. "I thought they played extremely hard and they were shorthanded. We could have easily held those guys to 13 points. The two touchdown passes, we were down to our third-team safety and didn't get enough reps. When (Donovan) Kaufman went down, we had to move (Caleb) Wooden down there and we just blew two coverages from a guy that hadn't played a lot of snaps. We have to keep creating depth. I thought they played a solid game." Next up, No. 1 Georgia inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday at 2:30 pm. The game will be televised on CBS. "We're playing one of the gold standards in college football right now," Freeze said. "What Coach Smart has done there, he's got it rolling. Thank God we're at Jordan-Hare. It'll be electric and we're get the kids ready to play and compete in this game." Here’s takeaways from Freeze’s weekly press conference on Mondays inside the Woltosz Performance Center.
