TIGER TALK REVIEW: Arkansas Week '25

It’s once again time for TIGER TALK — this time as Auburn prepares to play the Arkansas Razorbacks.
WHERE TO LISTEN: You can check here to see which radio station near you may be carrying the show. You also can click that link and get hooked into the stream through Auburn’s web portal.
WHERE TO WATCH: You can check here to see if the Tiger Talk Live Stream is active. I am told everyone can watch the stream on War Eagle + even if you’re not a paid member. I am not sure this is true. I will update this as conditions merit.
THE FIRST SEGMENT
Hugh Freeze says Missouri is a “really, really good football team, which means we’re a pretty good team ourselves.”
“We had real chances to win it.”
“I still believe strongly in those kids.”
“We’ve got to coach better in some points.”
“Jackson made a lot of great throws, but he’s got to be a little more consistent when it really, really, really matters.”
“This program is so close to being where it needs to be. Just gotta find a way to break through and continue to add to the roster — one more class.”
NOT ANDY asks about moving forward and not looking back on all these losses. “The noise that the men in the locker room have to hear … the disappointment of not being where you thought you would be when we started … all of that compiles. These kids care. They’re good kids for the most part.”
“To this point, our kids have responded every single time and come back and played with incredible passion and energy. How you finish — it matters in life.”
THE SECOND SEGMENT
NOT ANDY asks about Hugh’s relationships with players’ families. “They matter a lot. The sad thing is that in today’s time, you don’t have it with as many. I feel that way with (Perry Thompson and Robert Woodyard Jr.). I’m happy to see them developing. Some people don’t wait around and do that. They hung in there. Robert’s dad is the one that said he was staying put. Perry … had a long way to go not in terms of talent but of playing the position.”
ANDY asks about Xavier Atkins. “I look on the defensive side and it’s freshman after freshman.”
HERB is in the house. He wants to know about the role of sports psychology. “We definitely have ’em. Not as much during the season unless an individual really wants it, but they’re at our disposal. I think all of us coaches have to be psychologists and know how to talk to people.”
RALPH is in the house. He wants to know about backup QBs. “We’ve had ’em ready the last couple of week. I thought Jackson was outstanding in the first half, again. He had some drops. Then you get into the second half … he’s got to make some different decisions and better plays that help us. He knows that. We’re ready to go … come watch a series or two with me and see what happens when Ashton (Daniels) goes out there. It’s not all on Jackson. I’m not suggesting that.”
“We’re not finding the results. I think I owe it to our team, to our fans, to everybody to see if there’s another spark out there if we start to sputter.”

THE THIRD SEGMENT
ANDY asks about Connor Lew being out. “That’s one of the toughest thing in coaching. When you see (an athlete) have a season-ending injury, it’s just … your heart is ripped out for them. Nobody cares more about this program than Connor Lew. It’s a big loss. Now we turn to a true freshman. He’s getting thrown into the fire a little early.”
DELONNIE (??) is in the house. He says a lot of fans are behind him. “It hurts me that we haven’t delivered yet. There’s zero quit in us in that building.”

“I keep pointing to what we’re building. I’m not an excuse-maker; we should have won some of these games.” (He then makes an excuse about how these other teams are more experienced than Auburn.)
“The hope and the bright side of all the suckiness we’re going through right now, there is great hope on the horizon. I think Deuce (Knight) is going to be phenomenal. We’ve got to, hopefully, get though this season of disappointment and get our attention turned toward continuing to build.”
BUSTER is in the house. He says the losses have been frustrating. “My wife is over there, she will tell you that I have asked her like … three times … is there anything I need to confess to you? I’m feeling like something is not right.” (GUFFAWS ALL AROUND)
BUSTER continues … he wants to know about leaders now that Connor is gone and Damari tapped out. He mentions Champ Anthony, Keldric Faulk, Ashton Daniels, Jeremiah Wright. “There’s still plenty of great kids there that have a voice, for sure.”
THE FOURTH SEGMENT
JOHN/JON is in the house. He stands behind Hugh. He wants to know about the 2026 recruiting class. “I honestly feel incredible about it. It’s not the numbers that are typical for a high-school class. I have zero receivers that we’re losing. I like the ones we have, so I’d like to hold on to them. We’re totally backwards now — we have to sign the class before the portal. That has changed. I suspect, I think we’re going to get some good news on some D-linemen in the near future.”
THE FINAL SEGMENT
ANDY asks about Arkansas. “Incredibly talented offensive football team. The quarterback is an outstanding, dual-threat player. Putting up a lot of really big numbers. He extends plays as well as anybody we’ve seen. They’ve struggled some on the defensive side. Hopefully, we can control the game offensively somewhat. They played a ton of man-to-man in the A&M game, which was shocking. I’m not sure exactly how they’re going to play us.”
NOT ANDY asks about Bob Petrino, who is the Hogs’ interim head coach. “He’s very similar as a play-caller as he’s always been. Uses a lot of tight ends in a lot of different ways. He keeps you off-balance.”
ANDY asks about Durell Robinson. “They are letting him put pads on and go through individual (drills) tomorrow.”
NOT ANDY asks about Auburn’s secondary last week. “We don’t get a lot of testing on Crawford and K-Lee. When they do, they’ve proven to be pretty good.”
Hugh ends with a hearty, focused “War Eagle, guys.”
BE GOOD. BE YOU.
