Hugh Freeze‘s weekly press conference ahead of the Arkansas included some interesting quotes about his relationship with John Cohen.

The Auburn coach said he hasn’t spoken with the Tigers’ athletic director since the double-overtime loss to Missouri, the team’s fourth consecutive loss. A reporter mentioned to Freeze that athletic directors from both Florida State and Wisconsin offered public support for their coaches despite slow starts to their conference seasons.

Would Freeze like to hear that from his boss?

“That would be huge,” Freeze said.

He also spoke about the season-ending injury to center Connor Lew, quickly asserting that senior Mason Murphy will be getting reps at center this week in addition to true freshman Kail Ellis. In addition, Freeze said he’s continuing to consider the situation at quarterback and won’t hesitate to pull the redshirt off Ashton Daniels if that works best for the team.

Give Freeze credit for this — he’s certainly vulnerable. He’ll show you that side of his personality.
