VIDEO: Hugh Freeze Press Conference (Kentucky Week '25)

Hugh Freeze‘s weekly press conference ahead of the Kentucky game included some interesting quotes about the team’s complicated situation at quarterback.
Jackson Arnold started the game at Arkansas last weekend per usual, but was benched late in the first half after an egregious interception that yielded a pick six. That prompted Freeze to replace Arnold with Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels, which added some intrigue. Freeze said a few times lately that his plan was to redshirt Daniels this season.
Now that Daniels is playing, he can appear in a maximum of three more games and retain his redshirt status. Guess what? Auburn has four regular-season games remaining. That means Freeze, if he still wants to preserve Daniels’ ability to redshirt, will have to avoid playing the senior in one of the Tigers’ upcoming games.
For now, though, Freeze says he’s simply trying to win the Kentucky game this weekend.
He also spoke about wideout Cam Coleman‘s ankle injury, which doesn’t appear to be particularly serious, and his plan to possibly redshirt more seriously injured wideout Horatio Fields. Freeze also was asked field another question about his job status, which yielded the typical platitudes and niceties — though the coach stopped short of expressing comfort about his status for 2026.
