Auburn redshirt freshman walk-on wide receiver Cam’Ron King is a walk-on no more. The official Auburn Twitter page released a video of Hugh Freeze surprising King with a scholarship in front of the team during a meeting.

King walked on to Auburn in 2024 and played during the 2024 season, appearing once against Alabama A&M in the season opener. He was an unranked recruit in the class of 2024 who received offers from Purdue, Navy, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, and Western Kentucky.

His Auburn bio reads…

Strong four-year performer for Coach Edwin Farmer at Vanguard High … 34 receptions for 416 yards and 3 scores … also a competitive weightlifter … graduated with highest honors

King, as we have notated in practice reports, has been seen rotating in with the second group of receivers. This caught many by surprise with the talent in the wide receiver room, but King has been relied upon by the coaching staff since the spring. He was also seen on Saturday winning a one-on-one rep against a fellow walk on at the time. He was seen as a part of the receiver group in 11 personnel with Malcolm Simmons and Horatio Fields.
