AUBURN– Just like every Wednesday, Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin spoke in the SEC Coaches’ Teleconference around 12:10 p.m. central.

Harsin spoke on this week’s upcoming game against No. 22 Penn State.

Here’s what we learned from coach:

  • “We are excited to play in this football game… We’re excited to be at home. For my understanding, this is the first Big Ten team that’s playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium.”
  • On orange jerseys: “Yeah, I might like it. I’ve seen the orange jerseys from the past and, yeah, I think that’s something that Auburn has done, so it’s not too far fetched… I also think that’s something that people would be excited about… You’re asking about a guy that came from a program that had probably 25 different combinations of uniforms, but I like the tradition, I really do.”
  • T.J. Finley in pressure situations “He has done a good job… To me, those plays are going to happen in games, guys have to make plays because there’s going to be a break down. These are things you can’t anticipate. This is why good football players make plays in big time games.”
  • Harsin on Penn State quarterback, Sean Clifford: “Well, I think Sean is really good, I thought he was last year, but this is another year… I think he’s operating well. I think they’re going a few new things, I’m sure they are… I’m not sure we’ve seen everything that they’re capable of doing in the first two games. He’s a good player, he makes good decisions. I think he’s got a good feel for when he needs to escape. He’s more slippery than people think.”
  • “There’s only so many times you get to do something for the first time” on first Big Ten team in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Harsin says it’s “worth pointing out” and “adds to the whole excitement of the game.”
  • Harsin on Penn State’s defensive line: “They do a good job up front. Their front seven, their D-line, it starts with them. They play hard and they’re talented. It’ll be the best D-line we have faced this season, no question… these guys are good and I feel like our guys are getting better.”
  • Coach said he thinks the offensive line has already shown things this season that was never seen last season. “I’ve got confidence in our guys. They’ve done the things that they need to do to get the result they want.”
  • Harsin on working with Penn State defensive coordinator at while they were at Texas: “He’s definitely evolved. I’ve enjoyed my time with Manny… I felt like he and I, when we came in together and were both coordinators at Texas, we had to work together… It’s been a while, I see what he’s been able to do in these first two games… That’s going to be a challenge for us.”
