Clemson star defender Bryan Bresee missed Saturday’s game against NC State with a non-football medical issue.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on the defensive tackle following Saturday’s 30-20 win over the Wolfpack.

“He’s good. He’s good. It was a non-football medical issue that he had. Really scary,” Swinney said. “We got really good news yesterday. So we feel great about that. But it was a really tough four days for him and his family. Hopefully everything will check out tomorrow again and we’ll get him back rolling this week, hopefully.”

Bresee had bloodwork done earlier this week, and the issue is not expected to be long term.

This has been a tough year for the family as Bresee’s sister, Ella Bresee, passed away last month after a battle with brain cancer.

“Just what his family did not need to deal with at this point,” Swinney said of the non-football medical issue. “Then you’ve got a lot of waiting. But it all turned out great.”

Clemson safety RJ Mickens exited Saturday’s game early, but Swinney believes he will be fine.

“We’ll see where he is tomorrow. I thought it was his shoulder, but it wasn’t, so that was good,” Swinney said.

Several other Clemson players got banged up during the game, but all returned to action.

The Tigers were hoping to get Malcolm Greene and Sheridan Jones back against NC State, but both players were unable to suit up. Swinney said they are close, and he is hopeful they will be back for Boston College next week.
