This season has been unlike any that Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has ever experienced, in terms of injuries.

Heading into Saturday’s 30-20 victory over Florida State, the Tigers had already lost multiple players for the season due to injuries.

Against the Seminoles, Clemson had several more players leave that game because they were banged up, including offensive linemen Mason Trotter and Will Putnam, as well as running back Phil Mafah.

Swinney provided an update on those three on Sunday.

“Injury-wise, we had a couple of linemen go out,” Swinney said. “Putnam was able to come back in and tough it out. Both he and Trotter are pretty sore today. “

“We’ll kind of see how they are day to day,” Swinney added. “Same thing with Mafah. I think we will have, hopefully, everybody ready. Got a couple of guys that will probably be in a day-to-day deal. Just have to see how they recover.”

Swinney was later asked to elaborate on the specific nature of Putnam’s injury.

“It wasn’t his foot,” Swinney said of Putnam. “It was more of ankle.”

Starting offensive lineman Matt Bockhorst, starting receiver Frank Ladson, starting tight end Braden Galloway, and starting defensive tackle Bryan Bresee are among the players who were already out for the year due to injuries.

Clemson has also had several other players miss time, including Tyler Davis, E.J. Williams, and James Skalski. Receiver Joseph Ngata and running back Kobe Pace are among the players who have missed time due to COVID-19 protocol.

Clemson’s strange season continues Saturday at Louisville. The Tigers are favored by 3.5 points.
