2024 NBA Draft: Key dates & deadlines to know for Florida Gators
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The 2024 NBA Draft is less than two months away and Florida has four prospects in this year’s class. The Gators could have a player drafted for the first time since 2021.
UF’s top prospects are graduate transfers Zyon Pullin and Tyrese Samuel, both of whom earned All-SEC honors last season. Junior guards Walter Clayton Jr. and Will Richard have also declared for the draft and will go through the NBA evaluation process while retaining their eligibility.
The NBA distributes the early entry list this week and players can start communicating with and working out for teams. Florida coach Todd Golden said he will have some contingency plans in place if Clayton and/or Richard decided to turn pro.
“Obviously, some things are still up in the air, with Walt and Will testing, and both of those guys are capable of having really good workouts and improving their stocks. So, we have to stay nimble,” Golden said. “Both of them are training, and they’re working really hard to make sure they’re ready for their workouts.
“But we’ll know a lot more I would say middle to end of (this) week, and then that’s when like the Draft combine invites start going out, which is a pretty good indicator of how teams are thinking about you. So, it’s a little bit of wait-and-see mode right now. We just don’t have a lot of feedback or information yet.”
Florida forwards Colin Castleton and Alex Fudge signed with the Los Angeles Lakers last year as undrafted free agents. The Gators had a former player selected in each of the last two drafts (Keyontae Johnson in 2023 and Andrew Nembhard in 2022), but Tre Mann and Scottie Lewis were the last picks from UF in 2021.
Mann marked Florida’s first selection since 2013. Here are the dates and deadlines to know for the 2024 NBA Draft.
May 10-12
- G League Elite Camp. This is composed of players not invited to the combine, but they can play their way into a combine invitation.
May 12-19
- NBA Draft Combine. This year’s combine will be held in Chicago.
May 29
- The NCAA early entry withdrawal date, which ends at 11:59 p.m.. The NBA deadline for players to withdraw is June 16 at 5 p.m., but under NCAA rules, players must withdraw from the draft by May 29 in order to maintain their eligibility.
June 26-27
- 2024 NBA Draft from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The first and second rounds will be held on separate days.
