Florida's SEC opponents revealed for 2024-25 season

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida’s SEC opponents have been set for the 2024-25 season, the league announced on Monday. Oklahoma and Texas will both make the trip to Gainesville in their first SEC season, while the Gators will face Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina twice.

Florida’s permanent home-and-home series opponents will be Georgia and South Carolina in the new scheduling format with the league’s expansion to 16 teams. The Gators will face one additional rotating team in a home-and-home, beginning with Tennessee.

Florida’s home schedule also includes Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. UF’s road slate consists of visits to Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU and Mississippi State.

Oklahoma will be making its first trip to Gainesville, while Texas visits Florida for the first time since 1996. This also marks the first season since 1963-64 that Florida plays Kentucky just one time and the second time since 1964-65 that the Gators do not visit Vanderbilt (also 2012-13).

Game dates, times and television information will be announced at a later date.

Florida’s 2023-24 season highlights

* Florida returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021 and for the first time under second-year head coach Todd Golden, who became the fifth head coach in Florida history to lead the Gators to an NCAA berth. The Gators also reached the SEC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2014 and posted its most wins since the 2016-17 season.

* First-team All-SEC honoree Zyon Pullin ranked third in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.77) and posted the SEC’s best single-season A/TO number of the 2000s. Second-team All-SEC guard Walter Clayton Jr. recorded the No. 6 scoring season (633) and No. 8 most 3-point field goals (93) in a season in Florida history. Clayton also tied a Florida record with 42 straight free throws made (42, Canyon Barry, 2016-17).

* In the frontcourt, Florida got 11 double-doubles from AP second-team All-SEC forward Tyrese Samuel, the most by a Gator since Al Horford’s 16 in 2006-07. Micah Handlogten’s 17.8% offensive rebounding percentage ranked fourth in the nation, while SEC All-Freshman big man Alex Condon led the SEC’s freshmen in rebounding (6.4) and blocked shots (45).

* The Gators made a run to the SEC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2014, playing four games in a 65-hour span. In three wins vs. Georgia, No. 18 Alabama and Texas A&M, the Gators averaged 94.0 points and shot .429 from 3-point range with five double-figure scorers in all three wins, including five with 15+ points vs. Texas A&M.

* Florida lit the scoreboard for 105 points in the home win vs. 16th-ranked Alabama, the Gators’ most all-time in regulation vs. a ranked opponent. Will Richard led the attack with 23 points and Walter Clayton Jr. added 22, while Zyon Pullin and Tyrese Samuel scored 19 points each.
