With the commitment of Fort Myers (Fla.) 4-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil, the Florida Gators have added one of their top overall targets in the 2026 cycle. Guervil picked the Gators over finalists Florida State and Texas. This latest addition to the class is a significant win on the recruiting trail for Billy Napier and the UF staff, as the Longhorns were the team trending to land Guervil since the spring.

Guervil is very comfortable with Florida’s campus and staff

Florida’s relationship with Kendall Guervil dates back a few years. The staff offered in the summer between his freshman and sophomore year. Since then, he’s been a regualr visitor to The Swamp. With numerous trips that span over the last few years, it’s allowed Guervil to form deep connections with multiple staffers.

“I have visited Florida around 10-12 times. The relationship with the coaches is different,” Guervil recently told On3. “Coach [Gerald] Chatman and [Jeremy] Patterson, then coach Napier too – we all have good chemistry. I love going up there. Gainesville is a nice place and it has nice people. Going there, I feel I could be a big part of their defense and around great people.”

Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman worked quickly to build a connection with Guervil since his arrival. He was at the top of Chatman’s wish list this cycle.

“For me, I consider coach Chatman family,” Kendall Guervil said. “We just have that really, really close relationship. He’s just a great coach.”

Kendall Guervil is commitment No. 15 for the Florida Gators

With Kendall Guervil now in the fold, the Florida Gators sit with 15 verbal commitments in the 2026 class. He joins Winter Garden (Fla.) Windermere 4-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh, Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T. Washington 4-star WR Marquez Daniel, Tupelo (Miss.) 4-star Edge JaReylan McCoy, Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz 4-star WR Justin Williams, Milton (Fla.) 4-star S Kaiden Hall, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes 4-star RB Carsyn Baker, Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit 4-star quarterback Will Griffin, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood 3-star OT Chancellor Campbell, Saint Stephen (S.C.)
