Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 4-star linebacker Amarri Irvin has already been on the road this season to check out some college games. His high school schedule is a grueling one, which includes many out-of-state opponents, but it hasn’t kept Irvin from seeing some colleges. So far this fall, Irvin visited Miami for the Notre Dame game and Florida for the USF game. That trip to Gainesville was Irvin’s first game and second visit to UF this year.

That game against the Bulls was the first of three straight losses for the Gators, but there were still positives to draw from that trip, according to Irvin. Above all, it helped progress the relationship with first-year Florida assistant coach Robert Bala.

“That was a tough loss,” Irvin told Rivals Chad Simmons. “But I have a good relationship with Coach Bala, and I’m glad I made it up there. I was able to improve my relationship with him. We talked before and after the game about me, the defense, how he sees me in it, and it was a good visit.”

Those conversations with Caoch Bala were a standout to Amarri Irvin, as it was their first time interacting in person. The bulk of their conversations surrounded how his game would fit into the defense.

“Just talking to him and seeing where he pictured me, and stuff about the defense,” Irvin told Gators Online of his time with Bala. “Just talking in depth.”

Several programs are making Irvin feel wanted

Amarri Irvin is pushing 50 offers as a high school junior. Since college coaches were able to contact the class of 2027, Irvin has been a popular prospect. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, SMU, and Michigan are the ones pressing hardest.

“They hit me every week,” Irvin said of that group of schools. “Some are daily. The consistency is big for me. It’s about building those relationships, getting to know each other more. Relationships are important, and how I fit in the defense is big too—who wants me, how the coaches see me fitting, and if they have a plan for me.”

Ideally, Irvin will continue taking trips this fall. Trips are currently scheduled to FSU when they host Miami, Notre Dame when they host N.C. State, and Oklahoma for the LSU game. A commitment will come when Amarri Irvin feels the time is right, but he’s planning to make up his mind sometime next summer. With two visits to UF under his belt, there are several things that Irvin likes about the Orange and Blue.

“I’ve been there twice. It’s good football and a great tradition. SEC football is physical. Myles Graham is thriving there—I know him and look up to him.”
