Anthony Davis, a 4-star linebacker from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, is down to five programs and the Florida Gators are one of them. Per Chad Simmons of On3, Davis has likely made his final cut before he commits to a team this summer.

AlabamaAuburnOle MissFlorida and Michigan are his top schools.

Davis, listed at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, is the No. 17 linebacker and No. 249 overall recruit nationally in the On3 Industry Rankings. Auburn is the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favorite and he is officially visiting the Tigers this weekend.

It was somewhat surprising to see Florida mentioned as a contender in this recruitment. While we’ve learned the Gators do like Davis, there hasn’t been much Florida chatter here. Meanwhile, he does not currently have an official visit scheduled with the Gators and it is unclear if he will make one.

Per Hunter Shelton of On3, this is what Davis has said about the other contenders in previous interviews:

Auburn: “They’re building something and I can see it. They have a plan, they have a great staff and they aren’t afraid to play early … “I have already been to Auburn around seven times and what keeps them in the mix is how they constantly check on me and make me feel like I am a priority for them.”

Per On3’s Hunter Shelton, this is what Anthony Davis has previously said about his other top schools ….

Auburn: “They’re building something and I can see it. They have a plan, they have a great staff and they aren’t afraid to play early … “I have already been to Auburn around seven times and what keeps them in the mix is how they constantly check on me and make me feel like I am a priority for them.”

Alabama: “My interest is very high in Alabama now … I love it there. The relationships are big, we Facetime almost every week and they showed me on this visit how big of a priority I am for them. Now, they are probably in my top three and I have locked in an official visit for June 20.”

Michigan: “They showed me that they really care about building real relationships, not just recruiting. They were direct, honest, and focused on growth, both as a player and a person. Their message was that I’d be developed the right way — pushed to be elite on the field and set up for success off it. They made it clear there’s a plan for guys who come through that program.”

Ole Miss: “Ole Miss has made things interesting …. the hospitality and the way they want to play for me really caught my attention … “On the visit I got to see the facilities and meet with coach Golding and coach Kiffin. The talks with the DC (Pete Golding) and the one-on-one time with coach Kiffin were the biggest highlights for me. Their message to me was that I’m a priority for them and they have a real plan for me.”
