4-star RB Carsyn Baker backs off Florida commitment
After originally pledging to the Florida Gators back in June, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes 4-star running back Carsyn Baker backed off that pledge on Monday evening. The news was first reported by Rivals Hayes Fawcett. This move comes after Baker has taken a string of visits to other schools. Since former UF head coach Billy Napier was fired, Carsyn Baker has taken trips to Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Ole Miss, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The Gamecocks were Baker’s most recent visit this past weekend. He plans to sign this coming Wednesday. The plan going forward is to take the next few days to collect his thoughts and make his next move.
“I sign on Wednesday morning,” Baker said. “It’s going to come down to everything, the next couple of days I’m going to talk to my family and see what’s the best place and best fit for me. I think I’ll know Tuesday when I wake up and then Wednesday morning when I sign those papers, I’ll know exactly where I’m going.”
Florida announced the hiring of Tulane’s Jon Sumrall on Sunday as its next head coach. Baker is the first casualty on the recruiting front for Sumrall and the Gators. Baker was the lone running back in Florida’s 2026 class.
