4-star wide receiver Davian Groce of Frisco (Texas) Lone Star signed with the Florida Gators on Wednesday, which is National Signing Day. The Gators how now effectively signed their highest-rated pledge with this move. Despite Groce committing to Florida in August, there was some uncertainty surrounding him sticking as signing day closed in. Oklahoma was making a move, but in the end, the Gators were able to swing momentum back their way and hang on. Here’s everything you need to know about him.

What the Gators are getting in Davian Groce

Scouting report: Here’s what Lone Star head coach Jeff Rayburn said about Davian Groce

“He’s one of the best players in the country, and he turns it on to another level in the playoffs,” Rayburn told Rivals Sam Spigelman. “He’s unstoppable with the ball in his hands. I’m glad he’s on our team.”

This is what an anonymous Florida Gators’ source told Gators Online earlier in the year about some of the standouts about Groce during the evaluation process.

“6’2 190 [pounds], but ran 10.75 in the 100M and 20.52 in the 200M,” the source told Gators Online. “Unique size and speed combination. Big and explosive. Speed to stretch the field. Outruns angles consistently. Also plays RB and punt returner. Shows toughness and contact balance. Has play strength. Elite ball skills, and can high point and make the contested catches.”
