Five members of the Gators football team were among 79 UF student-athletes named to the 2021-22 Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll by league commissioner Greg Sankey.

Offensive linemen Austin Barber and Jake Slaughter, linebacker Scooby Williams, defensive back Dakota Mitchell and long snapper Rocco Underwood were all named to the conference honor roll.

The Gators had nine student-athletes who earned both SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll status and 2022 All-America accolades, including 2022 NCAA champions Anna Hall (pentathlon & heptathlon) and Jasmine Moore (indoor & outdoor long and triple jump), 2022 American Athletic Conference Lacrosse Freshman of the Year Emma LoPinto and SEC Diver of the Year Maha Amer.

The 79 student-athletes recognized brings Florida’s total number named to a 2021-22 SEC Academic Honor Roll to 378 – equaling the record set in 2020-21. UF placed 299 on SEC Academic Honor Rolls (110 on fall list; 65 winter, 124 on spring).

To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
