Another day, another preseason honor for Florida's Alex Condon

Florida junior center Alex Condon was named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Top 20 preseason watch list, the Basketball Hall of Fame announced Friday. The award is part of the Naismith Starting 5, which honors the best players at each position in college basketball.
Condon averaged 10.6 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds last season while helping lead Florida to the 2024-25 national championship. He posted seven double-doubles and earned third-team All-SEC honors from the coaches. The Perth, Australia native has totaled 668 points and 508 rebounds in his first two seasons at Florida.
Heading into 2025-26, Condon has already earned spots on the preseason AP All-America team, first-team All-SEC list, and NABC Player of the Year watch list.
Condon joins three teammates also recognized on Naismith Starting 5 watch lists this preseason. Those are Boogie Fland (Bob Cousy Award), Xaivian Lee (Jerry West Award) and Thomas Haugh (Karl Malone Award). The Abdul-Jabbar Award, which began in 2015, honors the nation’s top center. Condon is the first Gator to make the list since Colin Castleton in 2022-23.
