Top-10 transfer Boogie Fland commits to Florida Gators

The Florida Gators will have some Boogie for the Big Dance next season. Arkansas transfer Johnuel “Boogie” Fland committed to UF on Tuesday after withdrawing from the NBA Draft last week.
Gators Online first reported Sunday that Fland would be making an official visit Florida on Monday. He decided to take a trip to UF over Kansas, which also pursued him out of the portal.
This is a massive addition to Florida coach Todd Golden and his staff. Fland is a top-10 overall transfer, ranked No. 10 nationally in the On3 Industry rankings. The Gators also landed a top-50 transfer in Princeton point guard Xaivian Lee, who’s ranked No. 42 nationally.
Fland averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds a game as a freshman at Arkansas but made only 37.9 percent of his shots, including 34.0 percent from deep. His 1.4 turnovers-a-game average was solid. Fland played in 21 games with 18 starts.
Fland is the fifth member of Florida’s 2025 class and the third portal player, along with Lee and Ohio guard AJ Brown. The Gators’ other addition from the high school ranks are a pair of four-star guards in top-25 national recruit CJ Ingram and top-40 overall prospect Alex Lloyd.

Fland sustained a right thumb injury during a game against Florida on Jan. 11. He underwent surgery two weeks later to repair the ligament. Fland was expected to miss the remainder of the season, but he returned to play in Arkansas’ first-round NCAA Tournament win against Kansas.
In his lone college game vs. the Gators, Fland had 15 points on 4-of-13 shooting, was 2 of 3 from 3-point range, had four assists and committed one turnover.
He was a top-20 recruit coming out of high school
Fland, listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, was the No. 1 point guard recruit in the country for On3 coming out of New York’s Archbishop Stepinac. This was his scouting report as a prospect from Jamie Shaw, On3 National Recruiting Analyst:
“Boogie Fland plays with a New York flair. He has a good handle and is able to shoot the ball from each level, has deep range off the bounce and will pull up if you give him an inch. He sees the floor well, gets his teammates in evolved, and takes care of the ball, valuing possessions. There is a floater game in there as well, with a one and two dribble pull-up.
“He will need to continue getting stronger, and he is a solid athlete and has average length. The confidence is sky-high, and the skill set is obvious. He has a comfort playing on the ball or off the ball in a two-guard lineup. Never afraid of the spotlight. Charismatic. He missed a lot of his sophomore season with injury.”
Fland was a McDonald’s All-American and made the go-ahead shot in the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game. He finished with 17 points for the East in an 88-86 win over the West. Fland also had five rebounds and three assists while shooting 6 of 14 from the floor, including 3 of 6 from long range.
