Former Florida Gators defensive tackle Caleb Banks, who suffered a broken foot at the recent NFL Combine and might not return to the field for a few months, nonetheless still is getting a strong draft projection from CBS Sports. In his latest mock draft, Josh Edwards has Banks going in the first round.

Banks, who flashed when healthy for the Gators, had a solid combine. In combine drills, including the 40-yard dash, he recorded a time of 5.04 seconds with a 10-yard split of 1.76. Meanwhile, he had a vertical jump of 32 inches and a broad jump of 9’6”.

Over his three seasons at UF after transferring from Louisville, Banks recorded 46 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. He made preseason watch lists in 2025 for two prestigious awards — the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Bronko Nagurski Award. But he was slowed by a lower body injury and played in only three games.

Here are Edwards’ projections for all the Gators eligible this year’s NFL Draft:

*Caleb Banks, DL: Round 1 – Pick 28 (Houston Texans): “DeMeco Ryans has taken veterans and cast offs to fill the defensive tackle rotation, but they stand to benefit from identifying fixtures in that role; just as they have with the secondary. Caleb Banks profiles as the type of player who has appealed to San Francisco — where Ryans previously served as defensive coordinator — in the past: long and athletic without sacrificing play strength.”

*Devin Moore, CB: Round 3 – Pick 79 (Atlanta Falcons)

*Jake Slaughter, C: Round 4 – Pick 128 (Detroit Lions)

*Austin Barber, OT: Round 5 – Pick 159 (Carolina Panthers)

*Tyreak Sapp, EDGE, Round 5 – Pick 164 (Jacksonville Jaguars)

*George Gumbs Jr., EDGE: Round 6 – Pick 202 (New England Patriots)
