His overall record and accomplishments as a college head coach
A former linebacker at Kentucky, Sumrall was a well-traveled and well-respected assistant when he landed the head coaching position at Troy in 2022. In two seasons there, his teams went 23–4 and won two conference titles. He moved to Tulane in 2024 and is 19–7 with the Wave. Sumrall’s current team is 10-2, will play for the conference championship and might possibly make the College Football Playoff. Overall, Sumrall is 42–11 as a head coach. He has SEC experience as an assistant at both Kentucky and Ole Miss, and was Kentucky’s co-DC in 2021. But this is his first P4 head coaching job.
