Contract details for Ron Roberts, new Florida assistants

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Billy Napier and the Florida Gators made a flurry of coaching hires in the offseason. Following a public records request, Gators Online was able to obtain the contracts for Executive Head Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator / Inside Linebackers Ron Roberts and three other new assistant coaching hires.

Below are their pertinent contract details.

Ron Roberts contract details

Ron Roberts – Executive Head Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator / Inside Linebackers – signed Jan. 11, 2024 and runs through Jan. 31, 2026

  • Base salary of $750,000 in 2024
  • Base salary of $950,000 in 2025
  • If Roberts terminates the contract within 120 days of signing he will owe the University Athletic Association 100% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Roberts accepts employment with a Southeastern Conference institution, he will owe the University Athletic Association 60% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Roberts accepts employment with an organization not in the Southeastern Conference, he will owe the University Athletic Association 40% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If Roberts is terminated without cause, the UAA would continue to fulfill the contract until Roberts re-gains employment, at which time they would pay the difference in salary if Roberts’s new contract is less than what he was making at Florida.

Will Harris contract details

Will Harris – secondary – signed on Dec. 11, 2023 and runs through Jan. 31, 2026

  • Base salary of $625,000
  • If Harris terminates the contract within 120 days of signing he will owe the University Athletic Association 100% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Harris accepts employment with a Southeastern Conference institution, he will owe the University Athletic Association 60% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Harris accepts employment with an organization not in the Southeastern Conference, he will owe the University Athletic Association 40% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If Chatman is terminated without cause, the UAA would continue to fulfill the contract until Harris re-gains employment, at which time they would pay the difference in salary if Harris’s new contract is less than what he was making at Florida.

Gerald Chatman contract details

Gerald Chatman – defensive line – Signed Dec. 27, 2023 and runs through Jan. 31, 2026.

  • Base salary of $575,000 in 2024
  • Base salary of $600,000 in 2025
  • If Chatman terminates the contract within 120 days of signing he will owe the University Athletic Association 100% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Chatman accepts employment with a Southeastern Conference institution, he will owe the University Athletic Association 60% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Chatman accepts employment with an organization not in the Southeastern Conference, he will owe the University Athletic Association 40% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.

Jon Decoster contract details

Jon Decoster – offensive line – signed Mar. 6, 2024 and runs through

  • Base salary of $350,000
  • If Decoster terminates the contract within 120 days of signing he will owe the University Athletic Association 100% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Decoster accepts employment with a Southeastern Conference institution, he will owe the University Athletic Association 60% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If after the 120 day period Decoster accepts employment with an organization not in the Southeastern Conference, he will owe the University Athletic Association 40% of the guaranteed amount remaining of the contract.
  • If Chatman is terminated without cause, the UAA would continue to fulfill the contract until Decoster re-gains employment, at which time they would pay the difference in salary if Decoster’s new contract is less than what he was making at Florida.
