Gators Online Show: Latest transfer portal news, Pearsall to 49ers
Welcome to the Gators Online Show! For episode 89, co-hosts Zach Abolverdi and Nick de la Torre discuss the transfer portal news and Ricky Pearsall’s rise to becoming a first-round pick.
The show opens with the latest roster moves. Florida redshirt junior cornerback Ethan Pouncey has entered the portal as a grad transfer, while redshirt senior offensive lineman Riley Simonds has decided to forgo his final year of eligibility and join the UF staff as a student assistant coach.
We then discuss a pair of transfer targets, including what happened with Colorado State receiver Justus Ross-Simmons. He was scheduled to visit to Florida this weekend but committed to Syracuse. However, UF is hosting USC offensive lineman Jason Zandamela on an official visit.
The conversation then turns to the 2024 NFL Draft. Pearsall was a surprise pick at the end of the first round, going 31st overall to the San Francisco 49ers. We break down Pearsall’s decision to come back for his senior season and how he improved his draft stock as a receiver.

We wrap up the show by previewing the weekend series at Arkansas for the Florida baseball team. The Gators hit a season-high seven home runs and run ruled Stetson in their 13-3 victory on Tuesday in seven innings.
