GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The next time the Florida Gators play in The Swamp, Dallas Wilson could make his UF debut. The five-star freshman receiver missed the first three games and will be out once again on Saturday at Miami, which Gators Online reported on Wednesday.

Wilson has yet to practice with the team since early August due to a foot injury, according to multiple sources, but the staff is targeting the Texas game for him to make his season debut.

Florida coach Billy Napier revealed on Wednesday night that the plan is for Wilson to return to practice during the bye week.

“We anticipate him starting (practice) next week,” Napier said. “Right now, he’s dryland running.”

The consensus top-50 recruit was sidelined last month and placed in a hard cast. He’s been in a boot for the past few weeks. Wilson was receiving reps with the starting offense in camp before his injury.

“He’s a problem. He’s a problem. He’s exceptional,” Napier said of Wilson in late August. “He’ll be a major factor this year. So, we’re excited about Dallas for sure.”

Wilson set a school record in the Orange & Blue Game with 195 receiving yards. He caught 10 receptions, including two red-zone touchdowns and a long of 31 yards.

UF shared a video of Wilson catching a TD on the first day of fall camp. When asked which player had stood out in practice, EDGE George Gumbs Jr. named the freshman.

“I’d say Dallas Wilson. He can play. He can play no doubt. He’s a good standout player to me,” Gumbs said. “He don’t get all of them, but it’s definitely a battle.

“It’s a tough battle for the corners. Every time I look up, I’m like, ‘Is he about to catch that?’ And yes. … But Dallas Wilson, he’s definitely doing a good job.”
