DB Devin Jackson de-commits from Florida
On Thursday, 3-star safety Devin Jackson announced his de-commitment from the Florida Gators. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect from Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy had initially committed to Florida in July 2024, choosing the Gators over offers from the likes of Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Missouri, UCF, and Maryland.
Jackson’s decision to reopen his recruitment comes after several months of continued interest from other programs. Despite his early commitment, Jackson had maintained communication with multiple schools and had taken visits to other campuses. His decommitment now makes him one of the top uncommitted safeties in the 2026 class.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Jackson is ranked as the No. 33 safety and No. 381 overall prospect in the 2026 class. He last visited the Gators in early March.

Florida’s 2026 recruiting class now features two prospects: On3 No. 1-ranked linebacker Izayia Williams and 4-star quarterback Will Griffin. Jackson’s de-commitment is a setback for the Gators’ defensive back recruiting efforts, especially since Jaelen Waters is no longer in the class either; however, the coaching staff will continue to pursue top talent to bolster their secondary.
Among those on the Gators’ wishlist are Bralan Womack (Brandon (Miss.) Hartfield Academy), CJ Hester (Cocoa (Fla.) High), Ayden Pouncey (Winter Park (Fla.) High) and Justice Fitzpatrick (Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas).
