The terms of Gators athletic director Scott Stricklin’s contract extension and pay raise were revealed by the University of Florida on Wednesday via a public records request. Stricklin’s new deal comes after his men’s basketball hire, Todd Golden, led the program to its first national title since 2007.

Stricklin’s revised contract, effective on June 1, extended him with Florida through Oct. 31, 2030 (previously Oct. 2027) and increases his total annual compensation to $2.075 million. That’s an 11.5% raise for Stricklin, whose previous salary was $1.8 million annually.

Stricklin’s new deal ranks him eighth among SEC athletic directors and 17th nationally. He’s eligible for potential bonuses up to $200,000 based on athletic and academic performance, as well as $100,000 presidential discretion bonus (Dr. Donald Landy is currently UF’s interim president).

Stricklin will receive $100,000 if the Gators finish in the top five in the Learfield Directors Cup, $75,000 for 6-10 finish and $50,000 for 11-15 finish. He will also receive a $100,000 bonus for an Academic Progress Rate of 985 or higher, $75,000 for APR of 950 or higher and $50,000 if each team had a multi-year APR rate of 950 or higher.

Stricklin has access to private use of UAA-Owned aircraft, up to a value of $70,000 annually, and a dealership vehicle.

If Stricklin is terminated without cause, the UAA would his pay base salary ($1.25 million) and retention bonus ($290,000) annually — $1.54 million total — for the remainder of his contract. Stricklin also has the option to move to a special assistant to the AD role for five years when his new deal is complete in 2030.

Since his hiring in 2016, Florida has won 13 national titles and Stricklin has overseen major facility upgrades, including the $59.4 million Condron Family Ballpark and the $86 million Heavener Center. He earned he 2015-16 Athletic Director of the Year Award from the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Stricklin’s most successful hire has been Golden, who he tabbed in 2022 from San Francisco. In his third year, Golden tied the school record for wins with a 36-4 record, won the SEC Tournament title and became the youngest men’s college basketball coach to win a national championship since the late Jim Valvano (NC State in 1983).
