Devin Moore out for the Gators against Missouri

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators will be without freshman cornerback Devin Moore Saturday when they host Missouri. Moore was not listed on the injury report that Florida released Wednesday night.
Moore has played in each of the Gators’ first five games this season. He’s logged six tackles on the season while playing 167 snaps.
“His ball skills,” Marshall said of what stands out about Moore. “His size. Like I said, his understanding of the game, and coach (Corey) Raymond, you know, he instills that in not only his head, but everybody’s head, to understand the game, read your keys, knowing where your eyes is. Things like that I feel like (have) helped him a lot.”
Moore was listed as the backup to Jason Marshall. Avery Helm lost his starting role when Jaydon Hill returned last week against Eastern Washington last weekend. Without Moore, Helm will get more snaps this weekend against Missouri.
Moore out, Hill in
Florida welcomed back Jaydon Hill last week. The redshirt sophomore hadn’t played in a game since the 2020 Cotton Bowl. Hill tore his ACL and missed the entire 2021 season. He was able to participate in spring practice but had a setback and needed a procedure, which kept him off the field for fall camp and the first four games of this season.

“It’s been a long journey. A lot of hard work, long late nights, a lot of tears. It’s been a journey,” Hill said on Wednesday. “The work I’ve put in has paid off and I can’t complain. I’m just blessed. I’m still out here. I’m still going.”
Hill started against Eastern Washington and is listed as the starter across from Jason Marshall against Missouri. He finished the game with four tackles.
The Gators’ secondary has been a mixed bag in 2022.
“I think that secondary, in particular, is a position, much like our entire team, where we play well at times but we’re a little bit inconsistent,” Napier said prior to Florida’s win over Eastern Washington. “I think each position on our team — sometimes the magnifying lens gets put on certain plays or certain situations as they follow the ball, but I do think that they’re much like every position on our team. They do a lot of things well, but we’re looking for more consistency.”
